Photographer Nigel Holland has worked in York for more than 30 years.

And in that time he has documented the changing face of the city.

In recent years he has been taking a series of pictures which show how far those changes have come.

Almost like modern-day oil paintings, these beautiful and compelling images capture a very different side to the city from the popular tourist snapshots of Minster, walls and cobbled streets.

All these brilliant images are by York freelance photographer Nigel Holland

York is not the museum piece stuck in history, like so many people think. So much of it has changed in recent years. As Nigel says…

Bistros and bars have replaced the barges behind the old Herald building, and the bridge at Navigation Road resembles a Star Wars docking station – so different to our usual traditional York bridges.

And with so much of the city earmarked for new developments, it is likely that Nigel will be kept busy capturing the changing face of York for many years to come.
