Location: Wheldrake Lane, Wheldrake, York.

Firecrews from York were alerted by a passing cyclist to a trapped driver in a car which had ended in a ditch near to Wheldrake.

Firefighters released the male driver by use of hydraulic cutting equipment, and transported him to a waiting ambulance on a spinal board.

The male was then taken to hospital with neck injuries.
