Police investigating a robbery at a bookmakers in York have released an e-fit of a suspect.

The incident happened at Betfred on Millfield Avenue, in the Hull Road area of the city, at around 9.10pm on Tuesday 26 March 2013.

An unknown man stole a sum of cash after threatening the cashier with a knife.
The money was placed in a bag and he left the shop with another man. They drove off in a black car believed to be a Vauxhall Astra.

The cashier was not harmed but was left very shaken by the incident.

The suspect with the knife is described as white, aged between 25 and 30, with mousey brown hair and around 6ft tall.

He has a pale, clean-shaven complexion with a long, thin face and a pointy chin.

He also has a big hooked nose that appears to have been broken, and big dark eyes with heavy shadows underneath.

At the time of the incidents, he was wearing a dark blue waterproof jacket and navy blue tracksuit bottoms.

Extensive police enquiries have been carried out and remain ongoing to locate the suspect and his accomplice.

Detective Sergeant Alan Rowan, of York CID, said: “We are hoping that the detailed e-fit and description of the robbery suspect will prompt people to come forward with a name or names to assist the investigation.

“If you think you recognise the man in the image or know of his whereabouts, please do the right thing and contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help the investigation is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Alan Rowan. Or email alan.rowan@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.

If you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
