Indian rupees worth £200 stolen in York burglary

Police are appealing for information after a large amount of Indian rupees were stolen in a burglary in York.

Between 3.30pm and 10.30pm on Thursday (28 March), a property in Farrar Street, off Hull Road, was broken into, and ₹20,000 (about £200) stolen.

North Yorkshire Police officers have been conducting forensic and house-to-house enquiries in the area.

They are also appealing for staff at currency exchanges and banks to be vigilant, and contact the police if anyone has changed a large amount of rupees into pounds sterling since 28 March.
