Seven City of York Council employees earn a six-figure salary, it has been revealed.
In the latest edition of its Town Hall Rich List, the TaxPayers’ Alliance has published the salaries of all the senior officers with pay and pensions totalling more than £100K.
As you might expect, the council chief executive Mary Weastell is the most highly paid, with a pay and pensions package totalling £164,181.
The deputy chief executive, and the corporate directors for health, education, public health and economy and place are also among the top earners.
One undisclosed member of staff also earns £102K according to the alliance’s research.

Tough times
The average number of employees on £100K+ per local authority is 5.8.
Mary Weastell has a long way to go to reach the highest heights. The best-remunerated chief exec is in Slough, paid £595K.
