Issued by North Yorkshire Police

Chief Constable Dave Jones is inviting the people of North Yorkshire and the City of York to take an active part in his next monthly webchat on Monday 8 July, between 5pm and 6pm.

Residents are encouraged to raise the crime and anti-social behaviour issues that matter most in their communities.

Having been in his new post for a month, Mr Jones is very keen to discuss the approach to policing and find out what local people require and expect from their police service.

He also wants to share views on the impact of alcohol on safety and quality of life in the area, particularly in light of his own experiences while joining night-time patrols in York and during the summer drink-drive campaign.

Mr Jones will do his best to respond to all questions during the hour-long interactive chat.

He said: “Webchats are a great way for me to quickly and directly engage with people from across the area. I am really looking forward to addressing the policing issues that residents are most concerned about, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

“In particular during my first month as Chief Constable, I have seen first-hand the challenges regarding alcohol-related crime and disorder. I would like to hear about local experiences and views on how the police and other partner agencies can help to improve the situation.

“I am listening and I promise to do my best to act upon any concerns raised during the webchat.”

To join the live webchat and to ask Mr Jones a question, please log-on to the special page on the North Yorkshire police website.

For those unable to take part in the chat, please send questions via the North Yorkshire Police Twitter account @NYorksPolice using the hashtag #AskTheChief
