Today we present the second selection of entries in our York photo competition – and announce an extension to the contest’s deadline.

In response to a request from photographers, our judging panel have agreed to extend the deadline for entries until January 6, 2014.

“The original plan was to close the competition at the beginning of September to allow judging time and preparation for an exhibition at City Screen at the beginning of October,” said YorkMix editor Chris Titley.

“But it quickly became clear that many photographic clubs and societies take a break over summer, reconvening in the autumn.

“City Screen have kindly agreed to move the exhibition date to January 18, which now allows us to accept entries up to and including January 6 next year.

“As this is the 2013 competition, the revised dates will allow us to accept pictures which were taken throughout the entire year of 2013. It also allows schools and younger entrants more time to prepare their entries.

“So the title of York Photographer of the Year – and York Young Photographer of the Year are still up for grabs.”
