Selby police have reported that over the past two nights they have received a number of calls from concerned members of public and businesses owners in the vicinity of Abbey Walk.
It’s over groups of youths throwing snowballs, banging on restaurant windows and causing a general nuisance in the car park.
Tonight they say have encountered a group of around 10-15 youths all in dark clothing on bikes who cycled away from officers when they tried to engage with them.
A police spokesperson said “We are appealing to parents of children out in Selby town at the moment to encourage them to return home due to the amount of ASB (Anti Social Behaviour) calls we are receiving
It is worth noting that the restrictions for Tier 3 areas are that we can only meet other households outside in groups of no more than 6.
When officers attend these calls we receive abuse from these youths often when members of public are around.
This amounts to offences which we can deal with under Section 5 of the public order act.
Please consider our advice and advise your children to stay home if possible so we can deal with the other more priority incidents that are occurring across the district.”
