A power cut has hit more than 1,000 properties in York this morning (Thursday).

The blackout was first reported at 7.43am.

According to Northern Powergrid, 1,050 properties have been “hit by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve your area”.

Most of the affected homes are in Dunnington, with some in Osbaldwick.

Electric engineers are working to restore power. They hope to have the lights back on by noon.
