Police and fire crews were called out to Gale Lane in Acomb this evening.
At one point they closed the road completely and one resident told us that they had been informed that there was an investigation into a suspected gas leak at a nearby property.
However they did not need to leave their house
The road has reopened again and fire crews have left the scene.
