A hammer, a saw, a traffic cone and a number plate – just some of the items that a group of eco-minded businesses found when on a mission to clean up their corner of Clifton Moor in York.
The litter pick, organised by internal communication agency Red, was part of the Great British Spring Clean, a national initiative supported by City of York Council, which runs until 10 April.
The team, based at York’s Eco Business Centre, were keen to clean up the environment where they work for the benefit of all the companies and the wildlife that share the space.
Employees from Red and Pinpoint Finance swapped their computers and pens for litter pickers and sacks, which were provided by City of York Council, and headed out to gather as many bags of rubbish as they could fill.
They did a sweep of the roads around Amy Johnson Way and filled a whopping 19 sacks full of discarded litter, ranging from bottles and cans to papers and plastics.
“This campaign provides us with a fantastic opportunity to support a national scheme on a local level and helps us make a huge difference to the environment in which we work,” said Andy Douse, Red’s director.
“Keith Humphreys and Kelvin Smith from Pinpoint Finance joined our team, and it was great getting to know them. Keith was lucky enough to find a fiver!”
