Award winning theatre company, Everwitch, is inviting local actors to audition on August 13th 2022 for a place on their new Actor Training & Refresher Programme from September in Ryedale.

The training programme has been commissioned by Ryedale District Council to provide opportunity locally for a dedicated programme in acting and presentation skills aimed at emerging talent wishing to develop their skill set. It’s open to actors of any age (over 18).

“We’re excited to unearth new talent in Ryedale at the audition, and to provide ongoing support for more established actors” said Everwitch Theatre director, Helena Fox.

“ Our theatre company has a track record working with emerging actors of all ages, so I feel that we have something to offer successful auditionees.

“We are particularly keen to audition individuals who, for whatever reason, might find the traditional route into theatre – such as drama school or university- is not for them.”

The training programme is also suitable as a refresher for more experienced people wishing return to acting after lockdown with the advantage of not having to travel out of the district to find support.

The programme will comprise two terms of 1.5 hour weekly workshops focusing on individual speeches for audition prep and showreel, advice and access to actor headshot photographers, an audition prep workshop with a leading industry casting director, and inclusion in a new online casting directory for the Ryedale district.

“Alongside working with Everwitch Theatre, the participants get an incredible opportunity to take part in a workshop with leading theatre casting director, Lucy Casson, CDG– which we’re thrilled about,” Helena explains.

“This will give emerging actors so much insight into what to expect at high level auditions.”

The Training Programme offers affordable workshops with subsidised places available. Auditions will take place on August 13th in Kirkbymoorside, Ryedale.

Phillip Spurr, Director of Place and Resources for Ryedale District Council said:

“We’re delighted to be commissioning this training programme. We’re committed to developing and supporting the creative industries in Ryedale as they bring so much to the district in terms of nurturing talent, boosting our economy and enhancing the wellbeing of our citizens.

“The creative industry really stepped up to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s great to be able to launch a booster programme like this for the talent we have in the district.”
