City of York Council will lift the Lendal Bridge restrictions all day on Saturday, March 8, allowing vehicles to travel across the bridge to avoid disruption caused by the Trade Union Congress march.
The march travels down some of the roads which make up the main alternative route for traffic when the Lendal Bridge is closed. So the council has decided to suspend the restrictions on Saturday to reduce the impact on journey times.
The roads affected by the march are:

Tower Street
Castle Mills Bridge
Piccadilly
Lead Mill Lane
George Street
Fishergate Bar
Paragon Street
Barbican Road
Walmgate Bar
Hope Street
Lead Mill Lane
Piccadilly
Parliament Street
Feasegate
Market Street
Spurriergate
High Ousegate
Coppergate
Castlegate
Castle Car Park
The signs banning traffic on Lendal Bridge will be covered-up all day Saturday to notify drivers that the cameras will not be enforcing the restrictions.
Traffic delays are expected from approx 10am to 3pm with the main disruption between 11.30am to 1pm whilst the march is taking place.
Visitors and residents are asked to plan their journeys accordingly if they are travelling through York that day.
All bus services will remain in place during the march but delays are expected.
