The A64 in North Yorkshire was closed in both directions between the A1237 Hopgrove Roundabout (York) and B1248 (Malton) due to a multi vehicle collision.
Emergency services including North Yorkshire Police have been at the scene.
National Highways Traffic Officers were also there to assist with traffic management.
Recovery teams have removed the vehicles involved. There was also an oil spillage on the carriageway which has been treated .
