York’s horror film festival is back – and it’s bigger and bloodier than ever.
Dead Northern Horror Film Festival returns to City Screen Picturehouse York on Friday 23 to Sunday 25 September.
The three days of horror and fantasy themed entertainment will include screenings of classic and new horror films, student films, Q&As, special guests, and live events – including ghost stories and a live séance.
Some of the highlights for the 2022 festival are a 20 year anniversary screening of post-apocalyptic horror film 28 Days Later, Spirts with Spirits; a cocktail and camp fire ghost stories event, a recreation of a Victorian séance, the 2022 Dead Northern Awards ceremony – and much more.
The first Dead Northern Horror Film Festival took place in Harrogate in 2019, before it moved to York in 2021.
The festival organisers said that their “aim is to support the thriving York film making community whilst putting the city in the global limelight as a destination for lovers of all things horror.”
Tickets for the film festival are split into four categories:
- Individual showings – tickets for individual events or showings, from £5
- Day Pass – a day pass to all showings at City Screen Picturehouse on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, £35
- Screen Pass – your own dedicated seat and access to all the weekends showings, from £65
- VIP Weekend Pass – your own dedicated seat and access to all the weekends showings plus invite to the VIP awards party and some goodies, from £80
