A popular café in York city centre has closed after 12 years.
Café Luca, on Goodramgate, has been serving up tasty British treats to loyal customers since 2010.
The 50-cover café was know for its a range of breakfasts, sandwiches, hot meals, cakes and snacks. But it is now closed, and awaits a new culinary chapter.
Run by James Oldroyd, he has decided to go in a fresh direction.
“We had a 10 year lease that was coming to an end in December 2020,” he told YorkMix.
“It had been on the market as it felt like the right time to move in to pastures new after me and my partner found out we were expecting twins, which were then born as we went into lockdown.
“Subsequent lockdowns meant sale opportunities came and went but we agreed a sale early this year.”
The café was marketed by Barry Crux & Co which says it is under offer for £69,500.
“It will reopen under new owners and a new restaurant business,” James said.
“We are grateful for the 12 years of loyal customers and hard working staff that has made Café Luca a success.”
Residents with longer memories will remember it took over from Café Andros.
