Get ready for a nine-hour long music extravaganza Folk Ahoy! this Saturday (March 29), showcasing great musicians and raising funds for St Leonard’s Hospice.

Taking place at the Black Swan Inn from 2pm-11pm it is the brainchild of York’s Little Festival of Live Music organiser Ellen Cole

The line-up includes: renowned York folk performer David Ward Maclean; blues-folk combo King Courgette, Gilded Thieves, Sarah Dean, Dan Webster, Karlos Senor, Alice Ostapjuk, acoustic musicians Holly Taymar & Chris Bilton and country-folk band Dream of Apollo.

“I am very pleased and honoured to be starting off this one-day festival in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice at the Black Swan Inn,” said David Ward Maclean.

“There is a fabulous line-up of the region’s finest talent throughout the day.”

Ellen organised the first, three-day Little Festival Of Live Music during last September’s York Food And Drink Festival.

The festival proved so popular that she decided to continue with musical events that raise funds for York charities.

“I have always been a big fan of folk music and having been to numerous folk nights I was keen to create a folk event that would fit in with my festival’s ethos as well as celebrate the local music scene,” said Ellen.

“So I went that extra mile and created a nine-hour long festival!”

  • Tickets for York’s Little Festival of Live Music’s Folk Ahoy! event cost £4 per person and can be purchased on the door on Saturday, March 29 from 1.30pm onwards or can be pre-booked by emailing YorksLiveMusicFestival@gmail.com
