If you like your coffee Italian style, a new café could be just for you.
Plans are in for a branch of La Bottega Milanese to open in York city centre.
The small chain says: “The Italian Espresso Bar is a social affair, the embodiment of continental cafe culture through lifestyle & the daily dynamics of its urban folk – the Milanese”
The company currently has two branches, one in Bond Street, London, and one in Park Square, Leeds.
Plans are in to convert the long-empty ground floor unit on New Street that once housed the Supercuts hairdressers into the café.
A planning statement says: “The existing timber framed shopfront windows are to be removed and replaced with new timber frame sliding windows, paint finish, colour matt black.

“The proposed use of this premises is compatible with the neighbouring properties and their commercial uses.
“The external appearance will not materially be affected and will not be detrimental to the wider conservation area.”
The plans show a coffee shop with 27 seats, sliding windows, and a pavement seating area for up to 16 people.
If it gets the green light, it will be only yards from the Caffe Nero on the corner of Davygate and New Street.
