Become a budding florist at this idyllic pick-your-own flower farm in North Yorkshire.

The Flower Belt, located just outside the market town of Helmsley, is 10 acres of flowers – including over 20 varieties of wildflower, sunflowers, and 45,000 tulips.

The flower farm reopens for the summer on Saturday 20 July, where guests can wander the wildflower field to pick their perfect bouquet.

The Flower Belt

The Flower Belt was set up three years ago by Henry Wainwright, a 25-year-old third generation farmer, who works alongside his father just outside of Helmsley.

With help from his mother, The Flower Belt was intended as a small diversification project for the farm.

Visitors to the flower farm can simply collect either a vase or jam jar, as well as some scissors, on site and then explore the wildflower field to create their dream bunch of flowers.

Once you’ve picked your wildflowers, staff will wrap them up for you to take home.

A jam jar of flowers costs £6 while a vase of flowers is £15.

The farm is also a PYO pumpkin field during the month of October.

Create your dream bouquet!

“We are looking forward to opening this weekend,” Henry told YorkMix.

“We’ve been working really hard over winter to create new facilities and it will be really nice to see it all come together, especially seeing customers enjoying what we’ve put together.”

New for 2024 is a pizza and bar trailer ‘The Honey Tap’, which will be open on weekends, so guests can relax and enjoy the views of the North Yorkshire Moors after creating their bouquet.

There is also fresh coffee, cakes and ice cream available from the horse box cafe.

The Flower Belt was also featured in The Times’ seven of the UK’s best pick-your-own flower farms.

From Friday 20 July The Flower Belt will be open from 10am to 5pm every day. There is no need to book.
