A woman is seriously ill in hospital after a fight involving a weapon in York.
Investigations are continuing and a police guard is in place today (Friday).
Officers were called to reports of an altercation between two men and one woman which involved a weapon at 10.15pm last night (Thursday).

It happened down a ginnel off Bootham Row.
The woman was taken to hospital and has “serious but non-life threatening injuries”.
A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He currently remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Emma Newton from York CID said: “Thankfully we had a quick response to last night’s incident, and we now have a suspect in custody.
“I want to reassure the public that incidents of this nature are rare in York. A full investigation is underway, and I do not believe there is a wider threat to members of the public.”
Police say they are in the early stages of their investigation. They are appealing for anyone with information or who has CCTV footage which they believe to be relevant to come forward.
