York Proms is set to come back next year – and it’s already on course to be another sell-out event.

The popular picnic concert will return to the Museum Gardens on Sunday 27 July 2025.

After two sell-out years in a row, organisers are already predicting that York Proms 2025 could be the fastest selling yet.

Founder, Rebecca Newman, says “We always run a special pre-sale for previous customers and subscribers but during the ten day pre-sale almost 20% of tickets have been sold as well as 60% of the Fast Track tickets, which gives early entry to the gardens and allows audience members to get their favourite spot on the lawn.

“It’s always popular, but this pre-sale has been the strongest we’ve ever had.”

The annual event, which will be in its seventh year in 2025, brings a stage and orchestra into Museum Gardens for an evening of popular classical pieces, film music, and songs from musical theatre – finishing with a spectacular fireworks finale.

The future of the York Proms was recently cast into doubt when a local resident requested a review of the Museum Gardens licence following alleged noise disturbance from the Shed Seven and Jack Savoretti concerts in the Gardens the weekend before the York Proms took place.

After a hearing was held on 30th September to decide if the licence needed to be reviewed it was decided that no action was necessary.

Rebecca said, “I was in attendance at the meeting and I was very impressed to see how much care the promoter, FutureSound, had taken to ensure the concerts complied with all restrictions and had minimal impact on the local community and the gardens.

“Research shows our attendees spent over £180,000 in the local economy when they came to York for the event, on top of the income the event provides directly for local businesses, freelancers and the venue, so it’s important to ensure these events can continue, and do so sensitively.”

Tickets for York Proms are currently available at the super early bird price with adult tickets starting at £38 and child tickets are currently at £11, with those aged under five years being free of charge.

Tickets can be purchased online via the website, in person at the Visit York Information Centre or on 01904 909487.
