A car crashed on a busy roundabout after reaching speeds of 120mph in an attempt to evade police in North Yorkshire.
The pursuit began at 3am this morning. Police were alerted to a group of men in dark clothing behaving suspiciously in Sherburn in Elmet.
Officers started a search in the town to find them.
Just after 3.30am, an officer on patrol spotted a silver VW Golf on the A162 at South Milford, heading south.
The car failed to stop, and drove off at speeds of up to 120mph.
A short time later the car was found crashed on the M62 roundabout at Ferrybridge. A police dog tracked the occupants towards nearby warehouses, where officers detained a man making off across fields.
The man, who is 25 and from the Leeds area, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and burglary. He remains in custody at this time.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re extremely grateful to the vigilant resident who did exactly the right thing by contacting the police.
“If you see or hear something suspicious, call 101 – or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
