A teenager was robbed after he was threatened with being pushed in the river by two men in York.

It happened on Cumberland Street close to the Lowther pub at about 9.40pm last night (Wednesday).

Two men demanded that the victim give them his coat or they would push him in the Ouse.

Crime location

He handed over the coat and they fled. The victim then reported the crime at Fulford Road police station.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re investigating a report of a robbery which occurred in York city centre.

“The victim was approached by two men and forced to hand over some of his personal possessions.

“An investigation was immediately launched and a few hours later we arrested an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old on suspicion of robbery.”
