Grab your stripy tights and run, walk, skip, or hop into Christmas this year with the Mental Elf 5k Fun Run.

York Mind is thrilled to announce the return of their annual event, which will see an army of elves complete a 5km run for its second year.

Organisers welcome everyone to get involved, no matter your age or ability, as it’s all in the name of fun. Mini elves the age of five and dogs can also join in for free.

It will be held at York Racecourse on Sunday 15th December and tickets are available to purchase now.

The fun run will begin at 1pm, but runners (or walkers) are advised to arrive an hour early to warm-up.

Elf costumes aren’t essential, but they are encouraged.

There will be plenty of family-fun activities to take part in throughout the day, including a gazebo with games, music, crafts, and a raffle.

To warm up, hot drinks will be provided by the Little Yorkshire Coffee Company, and hot food from Caravan Cuisine.

Participants will be helping to support the delivery of vital mental health services in and around the city.

Ticket prices range from £10 – £20 per person, but there are deals on family and groups of ten bookings.

For eager elves, there’s a 20% discount code on all tickets with code: EAGERELF to use at the checkout.

Emma Chapman, Corporate Fundraiser at York Mind, told YorkMix:

“This year’s Mental Elf is set to be York’s favourite Christmas experience. With a visit from Santa in his sleigh, food stalls, live performances and chances to win, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

“Challenge yourself, have some fun with your family and friends or even your teammates whilst keeping active, doing some good and raising funds to keep York’s local mental health services active this Christmas.”

York Mind was formed in 2011 by the merger of charities Our Celebration and York & District Mind.

During that time, the two organisations had helped thousands of local people in their recovery from mental illness.
