Two people have been charged with the murder of a York man.
Jason Holdgate, 32, of Whitethorn Close, and Nicola Anne Beck, 42, of no fixed address, appeared at York Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).
It follows the discovery of the body of a 72-year-old man at a property in Whitethorn Close, Huntington, on Monday.
Following their arrest earlier this week, both defendants were charged late last night and were remanded in custody.
Neither defendant entered any pleas to the murder charge before York magistrates today.
They also face a separate allegation of vehicle theft. Neither entered a plea to this charge either.
The case was sent to Leeds Crown Court where Mr Holdgate and Ms Beck will appear on Monday (11 November).
Earlier, Detective Superintendent Fran Naughton said: “We remain at the scene of the murder at this time and expect to complete our work at the property today.
“I reiterate my thanks to the local community for their support and understanding while we worked at the scene. Our thoughts remain with the deceased’s family.”
