A thief has struck at a York restaurant before 2025 was five hours old.
They targeted the Mumbai Lounge on Fossgate at around 4.20am on New Year’s Day.
The suspect broke in through the front door and stole a large amount of cash from the till and tip jars.
Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re particularly appealing for information about a male wearing dark green trousers, a grey hooded jumper and black gilet who was seen exiting the premises.”
