A cyclist who took back his bike from a gang of thieves was then chased by them and assaulted.
The incident began at 5.50pm yesterday (Sunday). What police described as a group of young males stole a bike from outside a shop on Tang Hall Lane.
The owner of the bike, a man in his 20s, followed the group to Hadrian Avenue, challenged them and recovered his cycle.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “He was then threatened by the group and chased to Osbaldwick Lane where they then assaulted him before a member of the public intervened.
“The victim was left with no injuries but was very shaken up by the incident. He managed to keep hold of his cycle.
“We’re appealing for witnesses to any of the incidents and to anyone in the area with CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam footage that may may have caught the any of the incidents on camera, to get in touch.”
