A shop on one of York’s busiest streets has shut without warning.
The Luxe Company on Coney Street hasn’t been trading for at least three days.
The shop sold upmarket home decor, designer lingerie, furnishings and gifts.
Established in 2015, the business is owned by Brian and Lisa Marshall. It began as an online-only nightwear and lingerie retailer.
But its range expanded over the years to include homewares and more.
The company then opened its first bricks and mortar store in Harrogate, before the York branch.
It opened in 2022 over three storeys in what was the former Wallis store, which had been vacant for five years.

Later the Coney Street store added a café and an upstairs champagne bar called The Players Lounge.
“We have become increasingly convinced that, far from being a dying channel, the High Street is as essential today as it always has been, it just needs to evolve and stay relevant to today’s consumers,” Luxe said on its website.
However, the website is now offline. And Luxe Company hasn’t posted on its socials since March.
Business accounts show The Luxe Trading Company Limited, which trades as the Luxe Company and is based in Northallerton, adopted a corporate voluntary arrangement (CVA) last August.
A CVA is a formal insolvency process where a company in financial difficulty proposes a debt repayment plan to its creditors.
At the time, creditors said they were owed more than £90,000. The company’s last registered accounts, for the year up to 31 March 2024, showed it had debts amounting to £269,536.
