York firefighters were called out after smoke was seen coming from an alleyway.
It happened in the Fishergate area at 6.33pm last night (Tuesday).
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from York responded to reports of smoke coming from an alleyway.

“On arrival this was found to be coming from the kitchen of a domestic flat caused by cooking being left unattended.
“Crews assisted clearing smoke logging throughout property by using a positive pressure ventilation fan.”
