Police have stepped in and removed a kitten from a man in York after concerns were raised about its welfare.
People reported seeing the man carrying a very young kitten in what one witness said was a “children’s insect carrier”.
He was seen in Museum Gardens, and although seemed to be treating the young animal with care, the carrier it was in was described as “tiny” and “not suitable”.
Concerns were also raised for the welfare of the man himself.
Tonight (Monday), York police posted: “We are aware of concerns raised on social media platforms over the last few days. A male has been seen in the city carrying a kitten in a very small carrying case.
“This afternoon, officers tracked this male down. The kitten has been taken from him and is now in the care of a local vet.”
