The new restaurant being created inside the former Banks music shop in York is nearing completion.
Thai specialist Giggling Squid will open on Lendal on Monday 4 August.
The new restaurant will be able to host up to 213 customers over two floors.
It’s “bright, vibrant surroundings” will include “floral wallpapers, banquette seating and impactful lighting features”, the company says.
Ahead of the public opening, Giggling Squid is hosting an invitation-only VIP launch party on Yorkshire Day, 1 August.

It will feature Thai dancers, fruit carvings, DJ sets and a floral birdcage installation. “It’s going to be the biggest event in York this year,” says Giggling Squid founder Andy Laurillard.
Giggling Squid is offering 50% off food during its opening week for all pre-booked customers.
Spaces are limited to help the newly established York team settle in and will be available only to those who sign up on the website.

A company spokesperson said: “Taking inspiration from Thai traditions and legends as well as co-founder Pranee’s childhood food memories, Giggling Squid’s menu features vibrant, fresh and flavoursome dishes celebrating the exciting, unique flavours and ingredients of Thailand, cooked by expert Thai chefs.”
There will also be a takeaway menu available a few weeks after opening for click and collect or via Deliveroo.
The opening hours will be Monday to Sunday noon to 10.30pm.
