Emergency services were called to Valuation Lane, Boroughbridge, at 5:16pm yesterday (Thursday) after a fire broke out involving four canal boats.
Harrogate and Knaresborough fire crews responded to the scene and worked quickly to bring the blaze under control. Two of the boats involved sank during the incident.
Firefighters secured the vessels to prevent them from floating and causing further damage to neighbouring boats.
Using two hose reel jets, two sets of breathing apparatus, one 45mm jet, a light portable pump and ceiling hooks, firefighters successfully extinguished the fire.
