The York Rescue Boat was called out, along with York and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, to help a person in trouble in the River Foss.
The incident happened around 2am this morning (Sunday) near Clifford’s Tower.

Our volunteer swiftwater rescue technicians entered the water to safely rescue the casualty. Great joint working with North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust. Now back to our beds!”
The fire service said that crews from York, Acomb, Malton and Selby responded to reports of a person who had entered the water.
They used a 9m ladder, a floatation device and rope rescue equipment to assist the person, unharmed, from approximately 5 foot of water.
