A York bakery has reopened – with a complete refurbishment.
Cornish Bakery reopened its Colliergate location on Saturday 30 August, with the help of The Lord Mayor, The Sheriff of York and Consort.
The popular bakery has been closed since it was hit by a fire earlier this year, and returns with a complete refurbishment – showcasing a new design and open kitchen.

The reopening comes shortly after the business unveiled its expanded flagship location on Coney Street in July.
The refurbishment of the Colliergate bakery includes large window frontage, leather-upholstered banquet style seating for up to 15 visitors, a porcelain-tiled floor, oak panelling, and there are USB power points throughout the bakery for charging mobiles and tablet devices.
All Cornish Bakery products are freshly made and baked on site every single day and the York open kitchen will enable visitors to watch the team mixing, shaping, kneading and baking the extensive product range throughout the day.
Products include award-winning pasties and sausage rolls, and viennoiseries and cakes like the twice-baked pistachio croissant, Shakshuka croissant, and new additions Cornish Raspberry Crème Brûlée pastry and Hazelnut Pain au Chocolat feature on the menu.
Hand roasted coffee is served from the new La Marzocco coffee machine.
Cornish Bakery managing director, Mat Finch said, “We’re so pleased to be able to welcome customers back to our Colliergate bakery after a temporary period of closure.
“The team has poured heart and soul into this refurbishment, and it is looking fantastic, from the beautiful finishes to the open kitchen where you can watch the team baking our products all day.”
Cornish Bakery on Colliergate is open every day of the week, from 8am to 6pm.
