Love reading, but find it difficult to get to your nearest library?

Then the Home Library Service could be just what you’re looking for.

Contact Sarah Wallis, Home Library Service project manager

Royal Voluntary Service and Explore York Libraries are working in partnership to deliver library books and IT support in your own home.

You can choose from a wide variety of fiction and non fiction in a range of different formats including regular print, large print and audio books. These will be delivered to your home on a regular basis.

A Royal Voluntary Service volunteer will visit you to discuss what types of books you enjoy reading and organise a regular time to visit.

Give them a ring and they’ll make an appointment to visit when it’s convenient to you.

Help with technology

The RVS volunteers can also assist people with downloading e-books and accessing the library online catalogue. They can also bring Hudl tablets if you don’t have a device.

Volunteer with the RVS

Do you have any spare time and want to make a difference to people’s lives?

Sarah Wallis of the York RVS said: “Volunteering with Royal Voluntary Service won’t just help transform the lives of people, it will change your life too.

“Just a couple hours of volunteering makes you feel great. You’ll be amazed what effect one conversation, one laugh from someone who’s spent days alone or a heartfelt thank you can have.”

If you are interested please get in touch – see the panel for contact details.
