After a cracking first year, the Apollo Festival returns to York this summer – with Sheffield rockers Reverend And The Makers headlining.

“Having already sold out dates on their tour so far this year it is big news that they will help Apollo Festival close the show in style,” said Apollo organiser Stuart Kelly.

Joining them on this year’s main stage line up is singer / songwriter and former Bluetones front man Mark Morriss, Chris Helme and York’s popular party band The Supermodels.

The first Apollo Festival proved a big hit. Organisers promise 2014 will be bigger and better with four stages at York Sports Club, Shipton Road on Saturday 21st June.

Apollo also has Live And Unsigned finalists Redstar, top talent Black Delta Movement and returning for a second year We Could Be Astronauts.

Talented Beth McCarthy, now competing on this year’s BBC One talent show The Voice is also to perform.

Former Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley will play the Access To Music acoustic stage.

Joining him is Americana singer Boss Caine who has gained many fans over the past few years including the likes of Radio 2’s Bob Harris along with the likes of Pelico, Vesper Walk, Issie Dalby and a selection of talented musicians from the Access To Music College.

This year sees a new addition to the Apollo Festival line up: The Entertainment Company Presents Stage. York band The Entertainment Company bring the party with their repertoire of covers from Wilson Picket to The Wombats, indie anthems to jazz.

An array of acts are being lined up for their stage, including West Midland band Target By Numbers Rockers, The Fallen and Van de Neer.

New for 2014 the Apollo Dance Temple is powered by True Colour Sanctuary. Kerrang’s own Kate Lawler and Radio 1’s In New DJs We Trust winner Mistress De Funk will also feature.

Local food stalls and cocktails by Bar 1331, a fun fair and a whole day of children’s activities add to the fun.

  • The Apollo Festival is on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at York Sports Club, Clifton Park, York
  • Tickets are £12 for adults, and £1 under 12s
