Have you got a burning question about the way York is run? Do you want to know more about an important issue? Is there something you think the city could do differently?
Well now’s your chance to ask the people at the top.
In a pioneering move both the leader of City of York Council, Chris Steward, and the deputy Keith Aspden, have agreed to answer YorkMix readers’ questions.
When they formed the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition in May, both men said they wanted to lead a more open administration, where “decision-making is done in public with transparency”.
As part of that commitment they are going to respond to questions put to them by you.
Cllr Steward, the Conservative leader, will answer questions in December. Cllr Aspden, who leads the Lib Dems, will answer in January, and the top two will then alternate each month from then on.
They won’t get to choose which ones to answer – we will select the best and put them to the leaders.

It can only strengthen our city’s democracy if the leaders are ready and willing to take questions from anyone in the city on a regular basis.
This is something of an experiment – but I’m hoping it will prove to be an interesting and engaging one – who knows what will come up!
