There was a big police response to an incident on Coney Street in York this afternoon (Tuesday).
Two police vans and two police cars were seen outside the Boots store. A large number of officers were also involved.
According to witnesses they were responding to reports of an alleged theft from the JD Sports store further up the street.
At one point, a police van drove into the alley next to Boots which runs down to the river in order to block a suspect’s escape route.
We understand one arrest has been made.
