York City’s crucial play-off semi-final will be livestreamed by BT Sport, the National League has confirmed.

The league has announced that all ten play-off matches from the Vanarama National League North and South will be shown on a new platform.

A partnership with BT Sport and Sportradar will mean that fans, denied the chance to watch the games in the grounds, can watch the action.

“Due to matches being played behind closed doors, confirming a broadcast solution for fans has been an important part of our play-offs preparation,” said National League chief executive Michael Tattersall.

“This pioneering streaming service will create an opportunity for exposure of the competition on a global stage.”

Details of how supporters can gain access to the matches will be released shortly.

How to live stream

VNL Play-Off Passes come in four individual and multi-match packages.

Single game passes are available from £5.99, while access to both Promotion Finals costs £9.99.

To access every match live and on demand, the full Play-Off Pass is priced at £14.99.

Viewers will be able to access the streaming platform via web, mobile devices and tablets, in addition to connected TVs via Chromecast.

After finishing the curtailed season top of National League North, City were demoted to second place on a points-per-game calculation.

That means the club gets a bye to the play-off semi-final, played at Bootham Crescent at 3pm on Saturday, 25 July. City will take on the winners of Altrincham vs Chester.

If City win that game, the final will be played at Bootham Crescent on Saturday, 1 August at 3pm. The opposition will be Boston United, Brackley Town or Gateshead.

Meanwhile, York City have today published the results of the latest Covid-19 testing.

The club said: “York City Football Club can confirm that no positive tests have been returned, following the latest round of COVID-19 testing.

“The club is operating within the government’s Elite Sport Return to Training guidance, as it prepares for the upcoming National League North play-offs.”
