It’s been another busy night for firefighters in York.
At 5.46pm they were called to Heworth to a fire that had been started deliberately.
The crew used beaters and knapsack sprayers to extinguish the fire that measured 1m by 1m.
The Acomb crews were called to a fire in the open in Poppleton at 6.35pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “This was a controlled burn under supervision, however there were several seats of fire.
“Due to the extremely dry nature of the ground, the crew liaised with the responsible person and extinguished the largest area of fire using hose reel jet.”
At almost the same time, 6.36pm, a Malton crew went to a fire in the open at Fulford.
The spokesperson said: “This was a small camp fire that had been lit deliberately and then left unattended.
“The crew used buckets of water and knapsack sprayers to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.”
Crews also extinguished a tractor fire in Escrick at 6.09pm and rubbish deliberately set on fire at Cridling Stubbs, Selby at 11.31pm.
