York’s hairiest competition is making a comeback later this year.
After a successful inaugural event last year, the Captain Mustache Beard & Mustache Competition is back for round two – and aiming to be bigger and better than ever.
The 2024 event will take place on Saturday 7 September at The Crescent.
Victor Kenny, founder of the men’s grooming brand Captain Mustache, is the creator of the competition.
The aim of the competition is to find the best, weirdest and most fabulous beards and moustaches in York. So whatever style or length you’re sporting, there’s a category for you – even kids can join in the fun!
The 11 categories for 2024 are:
- Best Moustache
- Best Partial Beard
- Natural under 4 inch Beard
- Styled under 4 inch Beard
- Natural under 8 inch Beard
- Styled under 8 inch Beard
- Natural Over 8 inch Beard
- Styled Over 8 inch Beard
- Freestyle Beard
- Kids Creative Beard / Moustache
- Female Creative Fake Beard / Moustache
The event is in support of the men’s suicide prevention charity, Andy’s Man Club.
The entry fee per category is £12.50, with spectator general admission tickets being £5. It is free for under 16s.
