Police have urged football fans heading to the biggest game of the season so far: ‘Don’t risk ending the day in a police cell.’
York City play Oldham on Tuesday night in the National League playoff semi-final.
The event is a sellout, with thousands of fans of both clubs descending on the LNER Community Stadium.
The winning club will be off to Wembley for the playoff final, and a chance for promotion back to the Football League.
North Yorkshire Police say they will be carrying out a major operation on the evening.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers in hi-vis uniform and plain clothes will be on duty to provide reassurance and safety to everyone.
“Traffic around the stadium may be heavy, so please bear that in mind when planning any journeys in the area.
“Working closely with the organisations involved, we have significant experience ensuring events like this can go ahead in the right spirit.
“We won’t let anyone’s antisocial or criminal behaviour spoil that positive atmosphere. Don’t risk ending the day in a police cell, or banned from future fixtures.
“We will take prompt and robust action if it’s needed.”
