York Environment Week is back – with a focus this year on participation and showcasing a variety of responses to climate change and sustainable living.

With the first two editions of the event taking place during the height of the pandemic, much of the action had to take place online via Zoom.

Now in its third year and with more opportunity for in-person events, York Environment Week will take place from Saturday 24 September to Sunday 2 October.

Penny Bainbridge, chair of York Environment Forum and organiser of York Environment Week said: “York Environment Week each year is a celebration of working together, having the power to make a difference for the planet. We are all helping to create a safer and greener future.”

The diverse program of events ranges from the local and personal through to national issues – including how to make our homes cheaper to heat and more comfortable, looking at the natural environment, and exploring how we send a message to central government about local concerns.

We’ve put together a guide to six of the week’s highlights.

To find out more about York Environment Week and to see the full programme of events – visit their website here.
