Going, going, gone… How York’s fountain was removed – in pictures

For years the fountain on Parliament Street was a city meeting point.

But now it has vanished from the face of the city.

Over the last two weeks workers have demolished the fountain, removed the rubble and relaid the stone.

Now a working party is to decide what to do with this spot, to retain it as a city centre focal point.

Here’s how it disappeared, day by day…
