Are you ready to uncover some of the city’s most bloodthirsty tales from the underbelly of Georgian York?

As part of York’s Georgian Festival, history fans and gin lovers are in for a treat with an 18th-century gin tasting experience, hosted by none other than the iconic Mad Alice of The Bloody Tour of York.

The Hangings, Hysteria and Gin Craze show promises to uncover city’s darkest secrets from Georgian times, accompanied by a York Gin tasting, to help soften the impact of those frightening truths.

Taking place next month in a location rarely open to the public, the event will be held in Terry’s Boardroom at Impossible, St Helen’s Square.

Guests will be served two G&Ts, along with tasters from York Gin’s award-winning range, as Mad Alice delves into York’s horrible histories.

Natalie Hall of York Gin said: “Our gin-tasting experience in York Distillery gets across-the-board five-star ratings. So you’re in for a delicious and thoroughly entertaining afternoon. Add the fantastic Mad Alice into the mix, and you’ve got an unforgettable and unique York experience.”

Mad Alice, aka Alicia Stabler, is a familiar face on York’s streets, renowned for her daily walking tours of York’s most bloodthirsty landmarks.

Mad Alice said: “The refined 18th Century of Jane Austen is a world away from Georgian England’s mean streets where it was a daily battle to survive.

“We have some pretty haunting and bloodthirsty stories to tell about York during the Georgian period. But don’t worry – there’s York Gin on hand to settle your nerves.”
