A yellow heat health alert has been issued for York and North Yorkshire, with temperatures forecast to reach highs of 28°C next week.
Forecasters are warning of another heatwave, with the alert covering much of England from 12pm on Monday (11 August) until 6pm on Wednesday (13 August).
The warning, issued by the UK Health Security Agency, carries a matrix score of 9, indicating potentially significant impacts on health and social care services.
In York, temperatures are expected to peak at 28°C on Tuesday, before easing slightly later in the week.
The yellow alert applies to multiple regions, including London, Yorkshire and the Humber, the East Midlands, East of England, the South East, and South West.
Parts of central, southern, and eastern England could see temperatures rise as high as 35°C on Monday and Tuesday.
This latest warning follows a summer of three heatwaves in the UK. Amber and yellow heat health alerts were issued in June and July, as temperatures topped 30°C in several areas.
Meanwhile, the hosepipe ban across Yorkshire remains in place.
