Another 250 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 15 March).

That takes the cumulative case total to 57,409 – giving an overall infection rate of 27,206.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,524 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 527 (52.9%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 586.2 new cases per 100,000 people (1,237 cases in the week to 11 March). It was 566.8 yesterday.

The English national average is 542.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 380.7.

There have been three coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (up two).

A further 666 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 14 March) – including all the new cases since last Friday.

That takes the cumulative case total to 57,159 – giving an overall infection rate of 27,088 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,434 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 485 (51.1%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 566.8 new cases per 100,000 people (1,196 cases in the week to 10 March). It was 457.8 on Friday.

The English national average is 502.4, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 354.5.

There has been one coronavirus death in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (no change).

Cases among children: In the seven days up to 7 March there were 85 children of primary and secondary school age who tested positive across 32 schools, up from 70 children last week.

Deaths: In the ONS data up to 25 February, 464 coronavirus-related deaths were recorded as having occurred for York residents (280 in hospital, 144 in care homes, 32 at home/elsewhere and eight in a hospice). That’s no change on the previous week. The number of deaths per 100,000 of population in York is 219.9 – which is lower than the national average of 280.5.

Covid bed occupancy: As at 1 March, there were 112 confirmed Covid-19 patients in General and Acute beds at York Hospital – up from 79 at the last update (17 February). The peak number was 157 on 19 January 2021. There was one confirmed Covid-19 patient in the Intensive Treatment Unit.

Vaccinations aged 16+: As at 9 March, 158,781 York residents have had the first dose of the vaccine (89.1% of people aged 16+); 152,156 have had both doses (85.3%); and 126,515 have received the booster vaccine (71.0%).

Vaccinations aged 12-15: As at 9 March, 5,902 York residents in this age group have had the first dose of the vaccine (70.5%); and 3,013 have had both doses of the vaccine (36.0%).

Tuesday update: Another rise in the York coronavirus rate

A further 160 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 8 March).

That takes the cumulative case total to 55,885 – giving an overall infection rate of 26,484.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 997 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 323 (47.9%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 363 new cases per 100,000 people (766 cases in the week to 4 March). It was 337.4 yesterday.

The English national average is 330.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 241.7.

There has been one coronavirus death in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (no change).
