That takes the cumulative case total to 61,780 – giving an overall infection rate of 29,278 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,744 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 322 (-15.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 960.1 new cases per 100,000 people (2,026 cases in the week to 27 March). It was 976.7 yesterday.

The English national average is 873.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 746.3.

There have been eight coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (up four). The total number of deaths in the city is 462.

Another 259 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 30 March).

That takes the cumulative case total to 61,534 – giving an overall infection rate of 29,161.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,832 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 192 (9.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 976.7 new cases per 100,000 people (2,061 cases in the week to 26 March). It was 970.6 yesterday.

The English national average is 879.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 745.9.

There have been nine coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (up six). The total number of deaths in the city is 462.

A further 246 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 29 March).

That takes the cumulative case total to 61,275 – giving an overall infection rate of 29,038.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,923 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 20 (-1%) week on week.

That takes the cumulative case total to 61,029 – giving an overall infection rate of 28,922.1 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 2,003 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 136 (7.3%) week on week.

Friday update: A quarter of all York coronavirus cases now caused by new variant

That takes the cumulative case total to 60,309 – giving an overall infection rate of 28,580.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 2,071 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 326 (18.7%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 894.3 new cases per 100,000 people (1,887 cases in the week to 21 March). It was 860.1 yesterday.

The English national average is 843.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 653.8.

Ranking: York is currently ranked 97th out of 149 Upper Tier Local Authorities (UTLAs) in England on case rates, with a rank of 1 indicating the lowest seven day rate. It was 101st last week.

Rate aged 60+: The rate of new Covid cases per 100,000 of population for the period 13 March-19 March for people aged 60+ in York was 779.3 (389 cases). It was 568.9 (284 cases) last week. The national and regional averages were 721.6 and 607.9 respectively.

Case rates by age: Case rates in York are currently highest in the following age ranges: 40-44 (1,329 per 100,000); 35-39 (1,298); 30-34 (1,186) and 45-49 (1,179).

Positive tests: As at 21 March, the seven-day positivity rate in York (all Pillar 2 tests) was 29.8% (it was 32.0% last week). The national and regional averages are 36.5% and 33.9% respectively. The latest 7 day positivity rate in York for Pillar 1 tests only is 4.3% (it was 4.1% last week). The national average is 7.3%.

Cases in care homes: As at 24 March there were 19 care homes in the City of York Council area with confirmed Covid-19 infection (at least 1 case of either a staff member or resident). There were 17 care homes affected last week. The latest ‘outbreak’ (2+ cases) in a residential care setting was reported in two homes – up one.

Cases among children: In the seven days up to 21 March there were 194 children of primary and secondary school age who tested positive across 44 schools, up from 166 children last week.

Deaths: In the ONS data up to 11 March, 469 coronavirus-related deaths were recorded as having occurred for York residents (284 in hospital, 144 in care homes, 33 at home/elsewhere and eight in a hospice). That’s up three on the previous week. The number of deaths per 100,000 of population in York is 222.3 – which is lower than the national average of 282.8.

Covid bed occupancy: As at 20 March, there were 155 confirmed Covid-19 patients in General and Acute beds at York Hospital – down from 156 the previous week. The peak number was 167 on 14 March 2022. There were two confirmed Covid-19 patients in the Intensive Treatment Unit, no change. The peak number for people in ITU was 19 on 10 May 2020.

Long Covid:  The Post-Acute Covid-19 model currently predicts that in York, in the three month period from 1 March to 31 May 2022, there will be 3,840 new cases of post-acute Covid (aka Long Covid), of which 810 will require services.

Vaccinations aged 16+: As at 23 March, 158,783 York residents have had the first dose of the vaccine (89.1% of people aged 16+); 152,334 have had both doses (85.4%); and 127,274 have received the booster vaccine (71.4%).

Vaccinations aged 12-15: As at 23 March, 5,940 York residents in this age group have had the first dose of the vaccine (70.9%); and 3,324 have had both doses of the vaccine (39.7%).

Another 334 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 24 March).

That takes the cumulative case total to 60,036 – giving an overall infection rate of 28,293.2 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 2,066 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 400 (24%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 860.1 new cases per 100,000 people (1,815 cases in the week to 20 March). It was 851.1 yesterday.

The English national average is 831.4, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 634.

There have been four coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (up one). The total number of deaths in the city is 459.
