Crash on York roundabout cleared

The crash that had caused problems on a York ring road roundabout has now been cleared.

As we reported earlier, a van had flipped onto its side on Hull Road at the Grimston Bar interchange during this morning’s rush hour (Tuesday, 16 January).

Police went to the scene and diverted traffic around the incident, causing hold-ups.

But the road has now been cleared and traffic is flowing normally.

A rush hour crash on a key York roundabout is causing problems this morning (Tuesday, 16 January).

A van has overturned on the Grimston Bar interchange on the A1079.

It has blocked a lane. Police are on scene and directing traffic around the incident.

The collision is causing delays around the roundabout, including on Hull Road and the A166 Stamford Bridge Road.

The AA reports: “Delays of eight minutes and delays increasing on A1079 Hull Road Westbound

“Delays of four minutes and delays easing on A1079 Hull Road Westbound between Hull Road and A64 (Grimston Bar Interchange).”

Helen, who witnessed the incident, called in to YorkMix Radio to say there is slow traffic towards Elvington too.

Due to the freezing conditions, there are icy patches on the roads, so the advice is to drive with extra caution.
