Nunnery Lane in York reopens after crash

A York road has fully reopened after a crash this morning.

The collision, thought to involve a van, was on the southbound carriageway of Nunnery Lane, near the Trafalgar Bay pub.

Police were on the scene directing traffic around the incident, which has caused traffic to be very slow in the area.

But by 9.12am the road was cleared and reopened.

We have no information on casualties as yet.

Crash on busy York road causing problems

A crash is causing problems on a key York road this morning (Tuesday, 18 October).

The collision is on Nunnery Lane, close to Victor Street. Witnesses say it is on the southbound carriageway near the Trafalgar Bay pub.

Traffic is slow and it is causing jams around the area.

Car transporter crashes into bridge closing M62

The M62 is closed in both directions due to a serious collision.

Emergency services are at the crash between Junctions 33 Ferrybridge and 34 Whitley.

A car transporter has struck a bridge at Beal Lane, between Knottingley and Eggborough.

The motorway is currently closed east and westbound and the closure includes the bridge Beal Lane from Sudforth Lane.

A structural engineer has been called to inspect the damage to the bridge.

North Yorkshire Police said: “It is expected that both the bridge and the M62 East and West at this location will be closed for some time.

“Please avoid the area. If you witnessed the incident and have not already spoken to us, please call 101 quoting incident reference 1220181379.”

Diversions

Road users travelling westbound are advised to follow the Hollow Diamond diversion symbol on road signs. 

  • Exit the M62 Junction 34.
  • At the junction, take a right turn onto the entry slip road and join the A162 southbound.
  • Proceed along this road to the junction with the M62 (Ferrybridge/M62 J33).
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A645 and proceed along this road to the junction with the A162.
  • At the junction, exit the A162 using the exit slip road and proceed to the roundabout.
  • At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto A19 and proceed along this road to the roundabout with the A645.
  • At the junction, take the 4th exit to re-join the M62 westbound. 

Road users travelling eastbound are advised to follow the Hollow Circle diversion symbol on road signs. 

  • Driving East, exit the M62 Junction 33 exit slip road and proceed to the end of the slip road.
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A162 (northbound) and proceed along this road to the exit slip road for the A645.
  • Exit the A162 using the exit slip road and proceed to the junctionwith the A645 at the end of the slip road.
  • At the junction, turn left onto A645 and proceed along this road to the roundabout with the A19.
  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A19 and proceed along this road to the junction with theM62 Junction 34.
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit to re-join M62 East at Junction 34.

Crash partially blocks A59 in York

A crash has partially blocked the A59 this morning (Tuesday, 11 October).

The collision is near Poppleton Bar Park and Ride, close to the junction with the A1237 outer ring road.

The AA reports the incident, which happened during the morning rush hour, has been causing slow traffic.

Two car crash blocks road in York

A crash involving two cars has blocked a road in York this afternoon (Monday).

The collision was on Strensall Road, Earswick.

North Yorkshire Police said: “Reports of a two car collision on Strensall Rd in Earswick. Road blocked at the moment.

“Please avoid if possible.”

Traffic is slow in the area.

Crash closes the A19

A crash has closed the A19 this morning (Friday, 30 September).

This is from North Yorkshire Police: “The northbound carriageway of the A19 is currently closed from the Cleveland Tontine junction to Trenholme Lane due to a serious collision.

“Traffic is being diverted up the A172. Please avoid the area if possible.”

According to National Highways Yorkshire, the incident is expected to clear between midday and 12.15 pm.
